Two multi-credit watershed-scale markets are developing in the U.S. The Willamette Partnership in Willamette, Oregon uses a multi-credit approach, utilizing a function-based accounting systen for nultiple credits, with buy-in from the multiple regulators who oversee the trading of those credits. Stakeholders were able to create a 'General Crediting Protocol', allowing a single process to generate four credit types: salmonid habitat, upland prairie habitat, wetland, and water quality/temperature. The initiative has registered its first multi-credit project and is enrolling more participants to take part in a test-market during a two-year pilot.
